Cake Care
A little care goes a long way. Follow these simple tips to keep your cake looking beautiful and tasting its best until it’s time to celebrate.
Keep it cool
Please keep your cake refrigerated until closer to serving time. Cakes are best enjoyed at room temperature, when the cake and buttercream have had time to soften for the best flavour and texture.
Keep your cake away from direct sunlight, heaters and other sources of heat.
During warmer weather, your cake may soften more quickly, so I recommend keeping it somewhere cool until shortly before serving.
Storage & freshness
When stored correctly, your cake can be kept uncut in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Keep the cake refrigerated in its original box where possible to protect it from moisture, odours and other foods in the fridge.
Once the cake has been cut, store any leftovers in an airtight container or wrap exposed cake surfaces well before refrigerating to help retain freshness.
For the best flavour and texture, allow the cake or individual slices to soften at room temperature before enjoying.
Before serving
Take your cake out of the refrigerator ahead of serving and allow it to gradually come to room temperature.
As every environment is different, the time required will vary depending on the weather, room temperature and size of your cake.
Displaying your cake
Always place your cake on a flat, stable surface away from direct sunlight and heat.
For outdoor celebrations, I recommend keeping your cake refrigerated or in a cool indoor space for as long as possible before displaying it. Buttercream cakes are particularly sensitive to warm temperatures and direct sunlight.
Transporting your cake
Keep your cake box on a flat and level surface in your vehicle. The passenger footwell or a flat boot space is recommended.
Please do not place your cake on a car seat, as the angled surface may cause it to tilt or slide.
Keep your vehicle cool with air conditioning and drive carefully, particularly around corners, speed bumps and during braking.
Once your cake has been collected, responsibility for its safe transportation, handling and storage transfers to the customer.

Cutting & serving
For the best yield, I recommend cutting your cake using the grid-cutting method rather than slicing it into traditional wedges. Cutting in a grid creates smaller, even portions and allows you to get significantly more servings from your cake.
For clean, beautiful portions, use a sharp knife and wipe the blade between cuts.
Please keep in mind that taller and tiered cakes may contain internal supports such as dowels and cake boards. Carefully remove these as you work your way through the cake.
Tip: If you're serving a crowd, cut the cake into rectangular grid portions rather than triangular slices to make the most of every cake.
Decorations
Your cake may include non-edible decorative elements such as fresh or preserved flowers, ribbons, wires, picks, toppers or internal supports.
Please carefully remove all non-edible decorations and structural elements before cutting and serving your cake.
Leftovers
Store any leftover cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain its freshness.
For the best flavour and texture, allow individual slices to soften slightly at room temperature before enjoying.
One last little reminder
Your cake has been carefully handmade and is happiest when kept cool, level and out of direct sunlight.
Treat it gently on its journey, then all that’s left to do is cut, share and celebrate. ♡
