FAQs
-
I recommend enquiring as early as possible, particularly for weekends and peak wedding season. Celebration cakes are subject to availability, while wedding cakes are best booked several months in advance. Last-minute enquiries are always welcome, and I’ll do my best to accommodate where possible.
-
Simply complete the relevant enquiry form with your event details, cake requirements and any inspiration you have in mind. I’ll get back to you within 1–3 business days to confirm availability and discuss your cake.
-
Absolutely! Every ShugarCoat cake is made to order and can be customised to suit your celebration. Colours, flavours, piping, decorative details and overall styling can all be tailored to your vision.
-
Reference images are always welcome and are a wonderful way to communicate the style you love. However, rather than creating an exact replica of another artist’s work, I’ll use your references as inspiration to create something uniquely yours.
-
This depends on your number of guests and how you plan to serve the cake. You can view the Menu & size guide for guidance, or simply let me know your guest count and I can recommend the most suitable size.
-
Yes. Delivery may be available depending on your date, location and cake requirements. Delivery fees are calculated based on distance and logistics. Collection is also available for suitable orders.
-
Yes, most celebration cakes can be collected. I’ll provide collection and cake-care instructions before your pickup. For larger or tiered cakes, professional delivery and setup may be recommended to ensure your cake arrives safely.
-
Your cake should be transported on a flat, level surface in an air-conditioned vehicle, ideally in the footwell or boot rather than on a seat. Keep the cake away from direct sunlight and never leave it unattended in a warm vehicle.
-
Storage instructions can vary depending on the cake and filling, so I’ll provide care instructions with your order. Cakes should generally be kept cool and away from direct sunlight and heat.
-
A deposit is required to secure your booking. Your order is not confirmed until the required payment has been received.
Celebration cakes: A 50% deposit is required to confirm your order.
Wedding cakes: A 30% deposit is required to secure your wedding date. -
Minor changes may be possible depending on how close your event date is. Significant changes to the size, flavour or design may affect the final price and are subject to availability.
-
Cancellation, postponement and refund conditions depend on the notice provided and any work or materials already committed to your order. Please refer to the Terms & Conditions page for the full policy.
-
I offer cakes for celebrations of all sizes, from mini 4" and 5" cakes to larger statement and tiered designs. Minimum pricing varies depending on the size, flavour and level of customisation.
-
Inspiration images are always welcome and help me understand the style, colours and overall direction you’re drawn to. As every ShugarCoat cake is individually handmade, no two cakes will be exactly the same.
I’ll create your cake based on the design details agreed upon at the time of booking. Small variations in colour, placement and handmade decorative elements are a natural part of creating a bespoke cake.
-
I take great care to ensure every cake is made according to the details agreed upon at the time of booking. If you believe there is an issue with your order, please contact me as soon as possible and provide photos so I can assess the situation.
Where an error has been made on my part, I’ll work with you to find an appropriate resolution. Refunds or other remedies will be considered based on the circumstances and in accordance with your rights under New Zealand consumer law.
Please note that slight variations in colour, texture, placement and handmade details are a natural part of bespoke cake design and are not considered faults.
